Valkirias
2019 / Dantzagunea, Sortutakoak19, Tabakalera Donosti
Valkirias imagines three powerful women who evolve from childhood into adulthood, not simply through the passing of time, but through the demands of a career in dance. It is a short narrative that playfully reflects on the dance profession, the stereotypes imposed on our bodies and, above all, celebrates the strength that defines the women within this world. It does so through humour, movement and the creation of striking visual images that evoke these reflections.
Valkirias is a project by LaSúbita in collaboration with Mari Zaunka, the collective from Gipuzkoa formed by Oihana Vesga and Nerea Gurrutxaga. Together they form a quartet of women from the same generation, with similar artistic paths, shared concerns, and a common social and professional reality.
