Pols
2019 / Non-conventional Spaces
POLS explores a physical, sonic and visual phenomenon embodied by a body of bodies in constant dialogue.
Its starting point is a dance practice based on resistance, shared weight and dissociation, generating a dense, circular and continuous quality of movement. Within this framework, two bodies engage in dialogue to give rise to a new one, forming and transforming an interdependent mass that adopts multiple identities and opens up an endless field of imagination.
The visual and sonic journey we propose is intensified by the costume, which actively contributes to dissolving the identity of the individual bodies, turning them into a kaleidoscope of ever-changing, recognisable figures. We begin with the idea of a two-tone bodysuit as a shared skin that objectifies the performers, allowing us to play with duality, doubling and the ambiguity of forms. This multifaceted mass longs to be observed—or perhaps spied upon—inviting the audience to surrender to pareidolia and enter a living installation in an almost hypnotic way. From there, we propose a constant re-signification of what is seen, guided by the practice itself, real-time dialogue, imperfection and the imaginary universe that emerges from it.
POLS is DUST, gathering quietly until someone chooses to look.
POLS is POLE, the furthest point of each hemisphere.
POLS is PULSE, trembling within the dialogue between bodies.
