Danceoke POP
2024
Laura is obsessed with understanding where things come from, how cultural references are built, and the idea that everything has already been done. Like any good millennial, her references range from Britney Spears and Marisol to contemporary dance figures such as Trisha Brown and Àngels Margarit. Yes, her brain works by making random hyperlinks.
A danceoke follows the logic of karaoke, but instead of copying songs, you copy dances. This danceoke is a companion activity to the performance POP, where we dive deeper into the struggles of this millennial. Here, though, we gather to drown our sorrows, distort what we've inherited, remix our references however we like and dance—above all, dance.
A 20-minute activity for all audiences. You don't need to bring anything. But if you show up dressed like Eva Nasarre, even better. Leg warmers are welcome. Leotards too. And whatever else you fancy. We're not here to be shy. We're here to dance by copying a screen.
